Stephen Schwarzman’s story is one of altruism and a strong work ethic. In 2008 Stephen was listed as the fifty third richest person in the United States of America written by Forbes Magazine, even so it is his unbelievable generosity to non-profit organizations and his outstanding business accomplishments that show him to be such a magnetic individual. Stephen’s life story has been inspirational to numerous individuals globally and he has made the best use of his wealth to better many people’s lives, too.

In the eighties Stephen and his business partner Peter Peterson founded their business extending financial advice to the American public. These days, it has become a world leader in m&a, but note that Stephen didn’t start out leading his own business immediately.

Stephen grew up in the state of Pennslyvania. When he graduated from high school he opted to study further at the well-known Yale University and received his bachelor’s degree in 1969. He set about taking an MBA at the renowned Harvard Business school near Boston, MA. Then Stephen commenced his career in earnest with Lehman Brothers investment bank, based in Manhattan. He was appointed a managing director at the precocious age of only thirty one. Stephen doesn’t just offer his time to a variety of non-profit organizations, but additionally he has also volunteered as a non-faculty professor at Yale. Further, he is the most recently appointed Chairman to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. And, to return even more to society, he announced on March 11th, 2008 that he had bequeathed $100 million to the New York Public Library to help in funding their expansion. In fact, they named one of their new buildings after him.

Stephen is nowadays an inspiration to successful financiers - last year he was identified as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on the planet in recognition of his many accomplishments and influence on the financial world. His rise in the business world has certainly been dramatic, and without a shadow of a doubt his willingness to give back to his community has given America a different, more sophisticated benchmark to emulate themselves in future.
